Our Adoption Process
To ensure the best match for your family, we have an application process for our adoptable dogs and cats. Application processing generally takes about 5-7 days. Please be patient with processing; we are a small, volunteer-run rescue. We will reach out to you as soon as we can. Details about the process can be found below.
Step 1
Complete An Adoption Application
We use an application process to ensure a good match between you and your new family member. If you have a few animals in mind that you'd like to meet, please still fill out an application so we can arrange a meet & greet.
Step 2
Application Review By TCSPA
After your application is submitted, TCSPA will review your application and contact character references, vets, etc. As part of the review process, you may be contacted to answer questions or provide a video tour of your home. Application processing usually takes 5-7 days.
Step 3
Arrange A Meet & Greet/Adoption
If your application is approved, you will be contacted to arrange a time to meet with your potential pet and a volunteer/foster from the SPCA. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure you and the animal are right for each other. If this meeting goes well, your pet can go home with you that day! Most meet & greets end with an adoption. During the meeting, we will review our adoption contract.
We try to contact applicants when their application is not selected, but for pets that get a high volume of applications, this is not always possible.
Step 4
Pay Adoption Fee & Take Your Pet Home!
Once the adoption is finalized and the adoption contract is signed, your new best friend is ready to go home with you! You can pay the adoption fee via cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal.
Adoption fee for puppies is $200, adult dogs $150, and senior dogs $125.
Adoption fee for cats is $100, with a reduced fee for adopting more than one cat.
